Fear Not Faith

I know your probably not supposed to blog on sundays but I wanted to while it's still fresh. I had been pretty discouraged lately about David not getting a job. The first month I was okay because he was getting a break. It was nice for me to see him relax and get to do things he wanted to do! The second month I had so much hope that he'd find something soon and couldn't wait to see what/where it would be! The end of the this third month has been a little challenging though. These last couple days I've felt a lot of worry and anxiety about not finding anything so far. I get my hopes up a lot and although that's the way I prefer to be, it gets a little wearing after a while.

This morning was ward conference and the Bishop got up to talk and what was the talk about?

Living by Faith, Not Fear.

Perfect! Today was so uplifting and it really let me know that I was being watched over and protected. Things will work out and eventually David will be employed and we can start moving towards things we want like my education, saving for a house, kids, cars, etc. It was really uplifting and refreshed my optimism towards this point in our lives.

This is a great time for us because we are married and on our own. We have experiences that in a few years we will wish we could go back to at certain times I am sure! We can travel whenever we want (not much lately due to $ but we still dream of it!) we can buy the foods that we want, stay up as late as we want, laugh as loud as we want, clean when and wherever we want.

It's just an amazing time and while these few months there is alot of unknown I should appreciate it and realize that this time is limited. Someday we will get an itch to have a few kids and start to really settle down but for right now it's just us and I can't wait to see what's in store for us!

p.s.- thanks to my lovely sister for changing my super cute background!! She's pretty awesome

Just "Dropping" By

So growing up I LOVED visitors. There was nothing better than hearing the doorbell ring. All the dogs would run to the door and you can feel the excitement and anticipation as you race to the front door to see who it is. The only disappointment was the occasional door to door salesman.

As I grew up and moved out on my own I still enjoyed people stopping by because it was usually a girlfriend popping by to say hi or David coming to suprise me. It didn't get much better than that!

Little did I know that when you are in your own house and a newlywed (even though we have been married 14 months I still consider us newlyweds) people "drop by" like crazy! Everyone and their uncle just stops in! I don't mind if it's a visiting teacher or someone who is just making sure were ok but we get neighbors, random people, salesman, people coming by to say our dog is cute and all the most random stuff ALL THE TIME! I don't think it would bug me so much if they didn't stay so long but they generally do.

I shouldn't mind this but a lot of times they are interrupting cleaning, cooking, or other just relaxing. I have never known so many people to just come over and invite them selves in for a quality night at the applegates.

Maybe it's not just us, maybe this is a common thing and I'm being touchy but I like my alone time! Also, I generally in jammies ASAP when I get home so I always have to dash to my room and harness the dog and try to make myself presentable.

Bah Hum Bug to the front door! Am I alone in this?

The Results are IN!!!!

So Last year around this time we got a new little puppy named Myah. I know i've blogged about her before but this whole blog is about her and we need to clear that up so you know who the heck i'm talking about. Anyways when we got her from a lady I work with she told us she was half lab, half german shepherd.

Well she started getting older and I started to notice she wasn't looking much older. The months flew by and she stayed pretty much the same size. We were expecting about a 60-70 lb dog! And here she was 6 months (they should be 80% grown around this time according to multiple breeding sites) and she was barely 20 lbs!

With all that in mind we always wondered if she had a different daddy then the rest of her brothers and sisters. We had seen all of them and they all look JUST like german shepherds. So that became the family joke. Guessing what in the WORLD Myah really is!

For Christmas this year my mom got david a doggie DNA testing kit. You stick a swab in the dog's cheek, get it all nice and wet and then let it dry for 30 min. Then you stick it in an envelope and they tell you what DNA your dog has.
