Boy Oh BOY!!

Well for those of you who don't have facebook we had the ultrasound on Thursday and MUCH to our surprise we are having a boy!!!!

We knew it was the season for boys but could NOT have been more shocked. We were 100% convinced it was a girl. We had a few little out fits and I had everything all planned out. I even had a 13 piece comforter set (which was WAY on sale so I had to get it).

We went to the appointment and the doctor asked us what we thought it was. We all confidently replied girl and she proceeded with the ultrasound. Even the technician refered to the baby as a girl since she had seen it was the common consensus. She looked at the brain and spine and some other things first before moving to the "parts".

She had already said that he was sitting down on my bladder, which I have definitely felt, and that it would be hard to find the gender. Once she started looking she was a little surprised that she got a clear shot. My boy is DEFINITELY not shy! We got multiple good shots of the "proof" and also got them throughout several different times during the ultrasound!

Our poor little guy has been called a "she" for the past 5 months but hopefully can recover in the coming 5. It has been hard to restart all my planning and gear it towards boys. I don't see all the "cute" things out there like I do for girls. Don't get me wrong, I am VERY excited about HIM it's just hard to get excited about the accessories like I was for a girl.

We do agree more on names for boys so that is a hidden blessing. We still don't have anything we really like but are working on that. We will probably wait a while longer until we HAVE to decide. So that is our good news and we are so glad we could share it with you! Boy oh boy has this baby been a shock in EVERY way and we love him that much more for it!!!!

BIG NEWS x2!!!

Okay so I'm sure any of you who have read ANY of my blogs realizes that David has had an extremely hard time finding a job. Not just a job in his field or a job he likes, I mean ANY kind of job. He graduated on December 12th 2009 and has been unemployed since. We have handled it very well I think but FINALLY we have news!

Big News #1-

DAVID GOT A JOB!!!!

Not only is it a great job with Lexmark but it is in his field and really a great "big boy" job as I would call it. He would probably not approve of me calling it that but I like it.

Big News #2-

We have an apt. to find out the sex of the baby!!

On 10-22-2010 we will be finding out what my little wiggler is. I cannot wait to find out! David's mother, Margaret is even getting to come with us. I think it will be so special for all of us and expect lots of tears (from the Applegate side ;) ...)

I didn't want to find out what the baby was at first but after a little persuasion from David I decided at this point it is better to know and be able to plan. I think we will be switching off so hopefully the next one will be a surprise.

We would LOVE to hear your opinions on what you think it is. I know I haven't posted much but here is the update on my pregnancy so far.

Symptoms:

NONE! Maybe a little heartburn and excess peeing but nothing really note worthy. I really wouldn't know I'm pregnant if it wasn't for my rounding tummy (pictures to come later). Also I have had no cravings.

Weight:

I won't tell you what I started at but I have only gained 3/4 of a pound much to the chagrin of my Dr. but with my size I do not think we are too worried ;)

Heart Rate:

150-156 (some people have opinions that are effected by this I am told)

Where I carry-

Right now the only part of me that has changed it my upper abdomen. My lower looks/feels the same. The top of my tummy is rounding and TIGHT.

CRIB!!!!

So we went down to Mt. Sterling to David's parents this weekend for conference. David's mom suggested we go check out a new store in town. It's kind of like a discount home goods store but her Aunt told us they have baby cribs there and to check them out. It was amazing! They had stuff there for literally 1/3 of the price. I was so excited. I was even MORE excited when she offered to buy me the crib of my DREAMS!! It is perfect.

Not only was this our first purchase for our baby but it was such a big purchase. We were so grateful for her generosity and so excited to actually have something for the little one. Now it will not have to sleep in our chest of drawers!!!

I also got to looking at bedding sets and found a great price! $49 for a Brand new (with tags) bedding set but it was not the regular 4 peice it was 13 peices! I got the regular stuff as well as pillows, wall art, toy basket, diaper holder, and a few other things. I am so excited. I will not post pictures of this like I will the crib just because I do not want people to know what we really think it is.

I will be having a voting blog in a couple weeks right before I find out what it is. I go for my next apt on October 11th and will then schedule my ultrasound. We are hoping for the 20th to find out what it is!!! Anyways here is the crib:

Time for an update!!!

I have been dreading this update for so long! I am so behind, where to start?! Well I guess first things first, I'm pregnant! That's pretty big news. While this was not planned, we both love surprises and are thrilled by this one! I haven't really many symptoms. I pee a alot and my tummy is just starting to change (I am half way through my 17th week) but that is about it.

We will be making our Dr. Apt to find out what the baby is in mid October. I didn't want to find out the sex of the baby until it was born but David won this battle so I'm hoping I will get a little more wiggle room in the naming part.

David has a job interview on Wednesday at Lexmark! We have waiting almost TEN MONTHS for this and would appreciate any prayers. We are SO ready for a change.

Other news... lets see... Oh! My sister is getting married. I am going to be the LARGEST maid of Honor in history since my Due date is March 7th and her Wedding will be late December. I already picked out a dress with PLENTY of growing room though just in case.

That's about it for now. I'll try to be better about updating about the baby. Any baby name suggestions would help. Examples of names not welcome: Influenza, Agnes Shagnasty, Bertha... You get the picture.

Also any advice would be great! We are reading books and looking online but there is nothing like experienced friends and family to help fill you in!!!

cleaning cleaning cleaning!!!

So there's not a lot of news but David talked to our landlord and she is cleaning this week. She should be giving us the keys soon so I'm hoping we will be able to start moving in soon. I cannot WAIT!!! I will post pictures ASAP.

It's Official!!!

Were MOVING! No not because David got a job, or I got a better one. Just felt like an upgrade. The place we are moving is MUCH closer to town, bigger, and about the same price since it is utilities included!! So nice! Also, David has started applying to anywhere and everywhere. Penn Station, Ponderosa, Shoe sensation.

Although he is a college graduate with a great degree we will have to make do with these jobs until we get the official "Grown Up" job. Gotta get the money flowing!

Pictures will be posted later. We won't move for two weeks at earliest.

PS- I forgot the most exciting part of moving. We will be two doors down from our married friends (of 2 weeks) Lauren and Ben Monett!!!

Pros and Cons

There are pro's and con's to every situation. I just have to realize that while my husband is away for the night. We have spent the night away from each other before (maybe two nights) but usually I am in richmond with a house full of family and well distracted. Anyways, I am making myself focus on the pro's in this situation. Here they are:

Pro's

*I get to watch any show I want
*I can eat all the good snacks
*THE WHOLE BED
*Special cuddle time with Myah
*I can fall asleep in the dark (David has to watch TV to sleep)
*I can fall asleep in the quiet
*I can watch tv by candle light (Just annoying when other people are in the house)
*I got to go to an AWESOME bridal shower and not worry about getting back
*Computer all to myself

That is a pretty good list I think! The only con I can really think of is missing him but I can live with that for one night.

2010 Census

Since the first census commercial came on my television a couple of months ago I was so excited. First off I think because this is on official record that will forever say that in 2010 our little family consists of me and David. I still to this day get so excited any time that I can write down that I actually got to marry this amazing guy!

Second, the next time I fill out a census who KNOWS what our lives will be like. It is so exciting for me to think about how much our lives will change and how our family will look at that time. We may have 6 kids, we may have one, we may have none. We may have adopted children, foster children, biological children, or none yet (we are still waiting to start that chapter of our lives and you really never know what's going to happen when you try)

Third, Family History!!! Just think if people hadn't done census' years ago. How much harder would it be to find stuff for records and baptisms and that kind of thing. I hear so often people finding great big branches of their family trees from these seemingly simple population counts.

Fourth, I am a SUCKER for filling out forms! I just love checking boxes, filling in blanks, circling or anything else that has to be filled out. I swear if I could find a job where I fill out forms all day I would be in love.

Anyways just thought I would voice my opinion. David makes fun of me for getting excited when I see commercials or the fact that I filled it out and had it back in the mailbox within about 3.2 minutes after receiving it but it is something that you just can't explain!

Baby Zander!!!!

We are so excited!!! We give March 19th a BIG thumbs up because....

I have a nephew!!!

Crazy Bobby

And BEAUTIFUL Jen
Gave me my first Nephew!!!

Baby Zander Levi Boardman

Was Born March 19th 2010

At 6:29 PM

6 lbs and 18 1/2 Inched Long

And we could not be more excited!!! More pictures to come. He looks so cute and I think alot like Jen. Bobby and Jen live in PA so we were not able to be there for the birth but are hoping to go up soon so we can see him!!! I for one cannot wait to hold our family's new little grandchild! Aiden is not the one and only anymore.

That will be interesting! I told david that Jessie had the first Girl, Bobby had the first Boy, so we will have to have the first twins! He wasn't so excited about the idea of that but I thought it was funny. Anyways, here he is!!

Not so subtle

So Myah has started something pretty interesting lately. The other day we were sitting at home relaxing a little bit. Myah had been pretty good that day and was enjoying the nice weather outside. When we brought her in she started playing with her toys and brought her food bowl to us. I thought she was just trying to play with it (AKA eat it) so I scolded her and put it back. She did this a few more times before we finally put it on the counter.

The next night we were sitting in bed and she jumped up with her water bowl. David noticed that she wasn't playing with it like a normal toy though so he suggested I give her water and see if that's what she wanting. He was mostly kidding thinking she would leave it alone if it was full. So I took it, FILLED it with water (which we hardly ever do because she just makes a mess) and went back in my room.

Five minutes later there she was again with the EMPTY water bowl.

SOMEHOW she has decided that whenever she wants food or what she will just bring us the particular bowl that she wants and get us to fill it up. Who does that!? I think it is so funny that she has figured this out and is pretty nice now since we don't have to check her water and food that often or worry about the food going stale because she doesn't want to eat it right at that moment.

Our dog taught herself a trick! We knew our little mutt was smarter than she looks :)

Best Weekend Ever? Maybe

So these last couple days have been a little tough. I thought they would be great because my boss was going to be on vacation. He is a great boss and everything but who doesn't like it when they aren't being supervised? haha. Anyways I was very wrong. David was sick and it was very stressful and LONG couple days. So yesterday we were driving to our friends house to drop something off and it was raining. I thought to myself "this is going to be the WORST weekend ever" I was even planning on heading to Richmond just to get away from Morehead. Lack of funds made that impossible, but I figured I could keep myself busy and just pretend it wasn't the weekend.

BOY was I wrong! I have never been so glad to be wrong but today I am so excited about. We ALL (David, Myah, AND Me) all woke up in great moods! David was feeling a little bit better and we have great plans! Well as exciting as you can have in Morehead. We are planting some flowers, going to walmart, planning a trip to lowes to plan our future house. I am so excited just to go look and get samples and get started on planning something that most likely won't happen for years.

This week just goes to show you that you cannot always guess what your week (or even day) will look like. So just go with the flow!

I'll post pictures of our flowers, etc later today hopefully.

Organizing made FUN!?

Anyone who like a clean house NEEDS to go to this website. I have recently found that I am slightly addicted. Let it be known my house is FAR from organized but there are SO many ingenious things on this website for almost anything you could need. When we buy a house this will be my second most visited shopping place.

They even have great holiday specials and sales. It makes me inspired instead of making me think "Oh man this is going to take forever to get myself organized".

Anyways here is the website.

www.organize.com

They even have craft supplies and decor!!!

coach calipari

So I work at a print shop and have been training a new girl. When the new girl was not in the front today I went up to make a couple copies for a guy who was waiting patiently. I had seen him before but his story was really neat so I thought I would share it.

He went up to Coach Calipari's office to give him something for his birthday ( I don't know what or why because I was entering the information into the machine at this point and was not listening very well). He talked briefly with Coach Calipari and this guy, lets call him Joe, mentioned that his 6 year old daughter LOVES DeMarcus Cousins.

A couple weeks later, Joe gets something in the mail from Calipari. It is not only a program signed by DeMarcus Cousins, it is a note from him saying thank you for coming up for his birthday and some sweet things to Zoe. How nice is that!? The autographed picture would have been great by itself but a letter from John Calipari is so sweet and thoughtfull!

So this little 6 year old girl decided to say thank you she would write her own note and give both Demarcus Cousins an autographed basketball picture of herself, but also send one to Coach Calipari.

Is that not a sweet sweet story? Not only is he an amazing coach (from what I hear. I really don't keep up with that stuff) he is honestly a thoughtful guy! Who would've known.

Fear Not Faith

I know your probably not supposed to blog on sundays but I wanted to while it's still fresh. I had been pretty discouraged lately about David not getting a job. The first month I was okay because he was getting a break. It was nice for me to see him relax and get to do things he wanted to do! The second month I had so much hope that he'd find something soon and couldn't wait to see what/where it would be! The end of the this third month has been a little challenging though. These last couple days I've felt a lot of worry and anxiety about not finding anything so far. I get my hopes up a lot and although that's the way I prefer to be, it gets a little wearing after a while.

This morning was ward conference and the Bishop got up to talk and what was the talk about?

Living by Faith, Not Fear.

Perfect! Today was so uplifting and it really let me know that I was being watched over and protected. Things will work out and eventually David will be employed and we can start moving towards things we want like my education, saving for a house, kids, cars, etc. It was really uplifting and refreshed my optimism towards this point in our lives.

This is a great time for us because we are married and on our own. We have experiences that in a few years we will wish we could go back to at certain times I am sure! We can travel whenever we want (not much lately due to $ but we still dream of it!) we can buy the foods that we want, stay up as late as we want, laugh as loud as we want, clean when and wherever we want.

It's just an amazing time and while these few months there is alot of unknown I should appreciate it and realize that this time is limited. Someday we will get an itch to have a few kids and start to really settle down but for right now it's just us and I can't wait to see what's in store for us!

p.s.- thanks to my lovely sister for changing my super cute background!! She's pretty awesome

Just "Dropping" By

So growing up I LOVED visitors. There was nothing better than hearing the doorbell ring. All the dogs would run to the door and you can feel the excitement and anticipation as you race to the front door to see who it is. The only disappointment was the occasional door to door salesman.

As I grew up and moved out on my own I still enjoyed people stopping by because it was usually a girlfriend popping by to say hi or David coming to suprise me. It didn't get much better than that!

Little did I know that when you are in your own house and a newlywed (even though we have been married 14 months I still consider us newlyweds) people "drop by" like crazy! Everyone and their uncle just stops in! I don't mind if it's a visiting teacher or someone who is just making sure were ok but we get neighbors, random people, salesman, people coming by to say our dog is cute and all the most random stuff ALL THE TIME! I don't think it would bug me so much if they didn't stay so long but they generally do.

I shouldn't mind this but a lot of times they are interrupting cleaning, cooking, or other just relaxing. I have never known so many people to just come over and invite them selves in for a quality night at the applegates.

Maybe it's not just us, maybe this is a common thing and I'm being touchy but I like my alone time! Also, I generally in jammies ASAP when I get home so I always have to dash to my room and harness the dog and try to make myself presentable.

Bah Hum Bug to the front door! Am I alone in this?

The Results are IN!!!!

So Last year around this time we got a new little puppy named Myah. I know i've blogged about her before but this whole blog is about her and we need to clear that up so you know who the heck i'm talking about. Anyways when we got her from a lady I work with she told us she was half lab, half german shepherd.

Well she started getting older and I started to notice she wasn't looking much older. The months flew by and she stayed pretty much the same size. We were expecting about a 60-70 lb dog! And here she was 6 months (they should be 80% grown around this time according to multiple breeding sites) and she was barely 20 lbs!

With all that in mind we always wondered if she had a different daddy then the rest of her brothers and sisters. We had seen all of them and they all look JUST like german shepherds. So that became the family joke. Guessing what in the WORLD Myah really is!

For Christmas this year my mom got david a doggie DNA testing kit. You stick a swab in the dog's cheek, get it all nice and wet and then let it dry for 30 min. Then you stick it in an envelope and they tell you what DNA your dog has.

Test Results Listed Below!!

Notice the empty book shelf. Myah loves to eat anything on the bottom shelf
Happy Birthday kisses from Myah!!
Her favorite position

THE RESULTS ARE:

Level 2 (30%) - Parson Russell Terrier

Level 3 (20%) - Labrador Retriever

Level 3 (20%) - Weimaraner
Level 4 (10%) - German Shepherd

Level 4 (10%) - Pomeranian

Level 4 (10%) - Siberian Husky

She is officially a whole lotta crazy!

Review of the big apple by the applegates!

So i haven't posted in forever even though i have NO excuse. I can catch up pretty quickly however. For a graduation/anniversary/christmas present to each other David and I went to New York City for New Years! It was an amazing trip and just the perfect balance of relaxing and sight seeing. Although i can't post all the pictures because there are tons, here are some of the highlights.

A beautiful display in the window if tiffany's. Their front door was literally a bank vault which i thought was really neat. This window display was so delicate (it looked like it was cut from paper) and their was a HUGE diamond rind in the middle. it was just amazing
The train we got to ride at grand central station. The ceiling in the main room was breath taking. Way better than Madagascar made it look :)
Us on the train. Notice the crazy red cheeks. That's what happens when you spend hours in the sleet. We still LOVED it. This was after the new years ball drop. Notice my lack of wedding ring so i didn't get mugged.
Inside the Rockefeller Center. It was pretty neat but had VERY crappy bathrooms.
The infamous Rockefeller center tree. Right by the CBS news room. We got to see them setting up for the 5:00 news.

They still had beautiful window displays left over from Christmas and they were all breathtaking. My camera had low batteries however, so we didn't get to take as many pictures as i would have hoped.

Allison and Thomas! Our amazing tour guides. We went and stayed with allison's aunt and got to really experience the subway. We rode from the very end (through the bronx and harlem etc) into the heart of the city. It was very interesting being the only white people in a small subway train for a good half an hour.
Us eating in china town. That was probably my favorite place because of all the cheap shopping places!
Just one of the MANY gorgeous views we saw walking through the city.

Time square. Not as big as i thought, but then again, not much of it was. Still amazing though.

I'll post a few more later and keep you updated. I think once David gets a job and things get more exciting i should be able to post more. right now we are just living our simple little lives and being pretty boring.

I can't wait to get a little more income. Right now were just living off mine and really not getting any leads for the near future. I never thought my college graduate husband would be apply to places like the dollar store and walmart to get us through until he finds a more permanent position. Crazy how things work out but we are just so grateful for my steady job and the fact that as long as we are here i will have a steady income at a place i enjoy. Job security is quite the luxury right now i assume so we pray that we can just hold on and enjoy our time together on our own.
