Just "Dropping" By

So growing up I LOVED visitors. There was nothing better than hearing the doorbell ring. All the dogs would run to the door and you can feel the excitement and anticipation as you race to the front door to see who it is. The only disappointment was the occasional door to door salesman.

As I grew up and moved out on my own I still enjoyed people stopping by because it was usually a girlfriend popping by to say hi or David coming to suprise me. It didn't get much better than that!

Little did I know that when you are in your own house and a newlywed (even though we have been married 14 months I still consider us newlyweds) people "drop by" like crazy! Everyone and their uncle just stops in! I don't mind if it's a visiting teacher or someone who is just making sure were ok but we get neighbors, random people, salesman, people coming by to say our dog is cute and all the most random stuff ALL THE TIME! I don't think it would bug me so much if they didn't stay so long but they generally do.

I shouldn't mind this but a lot of times they are interrupting cleaning, cooking, or other just relaxing. I have never known so many people to just come over and invite them selves in for a quality night at the applegates.

Maybe it's not just us, maybe this is a common thing and I'm being touchy but I like my alone time! Also, I generally in jammies ASAP when I get home so I always have to dash to my room and harness the dog and try to make myself presentable.

Bah Hum Bug to the front door! Am I alone in this?

The Results are IN!!!!

So Last year around this time we got a new little puppy named Myah. I know i've blogged about her before but this whole blog is about her and we need to clear that up so you know who the heck i'm talking about. Anyways when we got her from a lady I work with she told us she was half lab, half german shepherd.

Well she started getting older and I started to notice she wasn't looking much older. The months flew by and she stayed pretty much the same size. We were expecting about a 60-70 lb dog! And here she was 6 months (they should be 80% grown around this time according to multiple breeding sites) and she was barely 20 lbs!

With all that in mind we always wondered if she had a different daddy then the rest of her brothers and sisters. We had seen all of them and they all look JUST like german shepherds. So that became the family joke. Guessing what in the WORLD Myah really is!

For Christmas this year my mom got david a doggie DNA testing kit. You stick a swab in the dog's cheek, get it all nice and wet and then let it dry for 30 min. Then you stick it in an envelope and they tell you what DNA your dog has.

Test Results Listed Below!!

Notice the empty book shelf. Myah loves to eat anything on the bottom shelf

Review of the big apple by the applegates!

So i haven't posted in forever even though i have NO excuse. I can catch up pretty quickly however. For a graduation/anniversary/christmas present to each other David and I went to New York City for New Years! It was an amazing trip and just the perfect balance of relaxing and sight seeing. Although i can't post all the pictures because there are tons, here are some of the highlights.

A beautiful display in the window if tiffany's. Their front door was literally a bank vault which i thought was really neat. This window display was so delicate (it looked like it was cut from paper) and their was a HUGE diamond rind in the middle. it was just amazing
The train we got to ride at grand central station. The ceiling in the main room was breath taking. Way better than Madagascar made it look :)
Us on the train. Notice the crazy red cheeks. That's what happens when you spend hours in the sleet. We still LOVED it. This was after the new years ball drop. Notice my lack of wedding ring so i didn't get mugged.
Inside the Rockefeller Center. It was pretty neat but had VERY crappy bathrooms.
The infamous Rockefeller center tree. Right by the CBS news room. We got to see them setting up for the 5:00 news.

They still had beautiful window displays left over from Christmas and they were all breathtaking. My camera had low batteries however, so we didn't get to take as many pictures as i would have hoped.

Allison and Thomas! Our amazing tour guides. We went and stayed with allison's aunt and got to really experience the subway. We rode from the very end (through the bronx and harlem etc) into the heart of the city. It was very interesting being the only white people in a small subway train for a good half an hour.
Us eating in china town. That was probably my favorite place because of all the cheap shopping places!
Just one of the MANY gorgeous views we saw walking through the city.

Time square. Not as big as i thought, but then again, not much of it was. Still amazing though.

I'll post a few more later and keep you updated. I think once David gets a job and things get more exciting i should be able to post more. right now we are just living our simple little lives and being pretty boring.

I can't wait to get a little more income. Right now were just living off mine and really not getting any leads for the near future. I never thought my college graduate husband would be apply to places like the dollar store and walmart to get us through until he finds a more permanent position. Crazy how things work out but we are just so grateful for my steady job and the fact that as long as we are here i will have a steady income at a place i enjoy. Job security is quite the luxury right now i assume so we pray that we can just hold on and enjoy our time together on our own.

Snow

So last night everyone was talking about snow and david and i had NO food in the house. So we went out to walmart to get a couple things. Also my friend Karen from highschool was coming to town so i had to get some food for when she came. Annyways walmart was CRAZY. We managed to get a pretty good parking spot and went in. WALL TO WALL people. We were expecting all kinds of snow after seeing the frenzy of people.

when we woke up this morning to let our little myah outside david came in smiling and i new it had to be pretty out there. I kept sleeping but myah woke me up once again at 9 wanting to go outside again and when i went to chain her up i looked up and how beautiful were the mountains! I know there are really just big hills but they looked like something out of a movie. Actually they looked much better. They were already covered in snow, but also it was snowing which made the tops disappear in kind of a mist. It was so soft and pretty. i wish i had my camera (i left it at my sisters at thanksgiving) to take pictures and post! Maybe i'll try to use david's if we can find the memory card...

Applegate Update!!

So my sister notified me that i have not updated in over a month and honestly i have no excuse :) I do have great news though. David GRADUATED! I felt like it would never come but finally it has. I'm so excited about the possibilities. We have a job that we are PRAYING hard for (any help is welcome) but we will not know about that until after march probably. It is so exciting not knowing what is ahead of us but having so any options.

Right now david is taking some time off while i am still working. I'll be his sugar mama for a while since he will be supporting me the rest of my life (or so i hope). My main goal in life is to be a stay at home mom and although he has taken some coaxing most days he agrees that it would be great if we can manage everything financially. This job we are hoping to get would definatly take care of that for us and put us on the fast track to financial stability. Not gushing money but definatly more stable than we are now. It will be so exciting if this opportunity works out.

Our anniversary was also the day after his graduation which made for a busy week. We stayed home since it was a sunday and just enjoyed time together. I made him steak, baked potatoes, and salad on steroids. OH! and sparkling cider. :) yum yum.

hope that does it for ya jessie. I will update after christmas and probably again after David and i make a trip with our great friends the Loesevitz' to New York for New years! Oh buddy i can't wait.

Crazy times in Crazy Places

So today was defiantly a blogworthy day. It was INSANE around the office. Let's see... where to start, where to start...

First i was in a bad mood. My boss said something and although he meant well it got under my skin. We had a meeting in the morning and i was SURE i was going to get fired. The only meeting i've been to someone almost got fired so i was for SURE iwas getting fired. Well i didn't, and actually they brought me in there to discuss things that would help me do my job :)

Second we had a CRAZY man come in. Literally 7 feet tall. He started telling me this story about how the shrink wrap we use to wrap our SOTP (Sex Offenders Treatment Program) Manuals ate through is brand new harley davidson shirt and pants! For real? You REALLY think we are going to believe that?

So i ask the boss what to do and he gave him the manufacturer's number. The guy got mad and brought the shirt in, had me RUB the shirt with the shrink wrap and said he was going to come back in an hour and show me what it did. Me, thinking he's crazy rubbed it on my LACE shirt and told him if it ate through either one we would pay him back. He came back two hours later and sure enough, both shirts were perfectly fine and sent him on his way. There is a first time for everything. We work with that all day everyday and have no problems.

Third I went shopping at walmart, and usually i falter. I get distracted and by all the things i don't need to buy and then get to tired to buy/remember to buy all the things we need. Especially if i'm on the phone. However, today i was talking to my sister and bought everything we needed on the list AND quite a few cheap but great suprises for david. All of our groceries (including ribs, hamburger, and chicken) were $70 and i did it in twenty minutes! a pretty good cartful!

Fourth, i rented TWO red box movies david and i have been DYING to see. "UP" and "Ice Age, Dawn of the Dinosaurs.

Fifth. I wrote this blog without re-doing it five times!

Today, dispite all the crazy things that happened and the hectic day we had at work i feel so greatful that i have a great home to come home to and such awesome people in my life. Thanks to my love, support system, and best friend David for all that he does. My sister for making me an efficient shoppes (and human being) . And all my friends for all they do for me :)

Whoops!

So last monday was a pretty typical day. Work, dinner, relaxing, talking to my sister. Then David decided he would take myah out, and a few minutes later i hear my name. Kind of odd considering you don't need much help to sit there while your dog runs around on her leash, but i go outside and see david on all fours in the wet FREEZING cold grass asking me to take the dog.

I immediately think that she has jumped on him and had some bad aim, if you know what i mean. So i put the puppy inside and go to get him but he will not move or tell me what's wrong. Apparently, as he told me about twenty minutes later when we finally get him over the car port step and up the steps to our house, he went to hop off the porch and landed in a pot hole created by our little ball of mischief herself!

My poor husband's ankle was HUGE! We figured it wasn't broken but it was sprained pretty good. We had a friend get us some crutches and gave him some pain medicine but the rest of the week everything was on me.

You really don't realize how much of a team effort marriage is until you have to do everything yourself. Cooking, cleaning, shopping, taking the dog in and out, getting him drinks, ice, fixing his bandages, and everything! I am SOOOOOOO thankful that he is back in business (more or less) and able to help me with everything again!

He really couldn't stand the crutches and tried to get off them as soon as he could. Not because he was trying to be tough but he has a pinched nerve and it effects his right arm (shooting pains, tingling, numbness, etc) which happens to be the sprained ankle side too.

I need to start taking better care of this poor guy! Pictures to come
